Getting a business’s behind the scenes operations organised is key to its ultimate success. A great deal of thought has to go into the products and supplies which will ensure that a new retail venture gets off the ground without problems.

Operating successfully is about so much more than putting the right products on shelves, and then enticing customers in to buy them. It encompasses every aspect of that customer’s experience in being able to find easily what they’re looking for, to handle and store it while they carry on browsing, and then pay for it quickly and efficiently.

The old adage that time is money is true in every shop, and while we want to make a customer’s experience as pleasant as possible every time they visit, ensuring that they can get into, around and out of the store smoothly and without hindrance – and have everything they need to enable them to do so – is equally important.

The shops everyone remembers are the ones where what we were looking for was easy to find, clearly labelled and priced, and easy to pick up and transport back to the car, van or truck. A retailer who fails to get these basics right will always struggle to win custom on the strength of the experience which they offer.

Clearly labelled display shelving, display stands which show off products to their best advantage, and display bins which encourage people to rummage yet easily find what they are looking for all add to any shop’s appeal.

These displays often have to be adaptable too, so that the retailer can switch around their offering according to seasonal demand, and have products which have a more limited shelf life prominently displayed where their customers can easily find and select them. The two most important factors in arranging successful retail displays is that they have to be logical, and appropriate for the types of products being sold.

The former is important because a customer’s idea of how a store should be laid out is invariably different to how the person in charge or their staff might think – so some compromise is inevitable.
The latter involves considerations such as using the right type of shelving, display stands and showcases to allow products to ‘sell themselves’ and have visual appeal to customers.
Arranging shop displays is far from a precise art, yet the right choice of products can make all the difference between casual customers becoming regulars, and telling the people they know about the great experience they had shopping with you.

An extensive range of
plastic storage boxes will help keep stock on and off the shop floor tidy and make it easy to find. Large storage boxes are ideal for displaying items yet keeping them organised.
